To acknowledge Fairtrade Fortnight 2013, Edward Peake went further for Fairtrade by holding a Fairtrade week from Monday 25th February to Friday 1st March. The week began with chocolate tasting on Monday – Chocolate has never disappeared so fast in recorded history! On Tuesday pupils sold Fairtrade Bananas in the Go Bananas event and Fairtrade smoothies were enjoyed on Wednesday.

On Thursday the whole school took part in a Fairtrade Day, which began with a well performed drama from members of the Fairtrade Group during our collective worship. Pupils took part in a range of acivities such as Fairtrade sculptures from the packaging we collected, playing or creating Fairtrade games and preparing tasty Fairtrade snacks in the kitchen.   Some pupils also promoted Fairtrade creating radio podcasts and producing information leaflets.

Fairtrade week was brought to a close with a Fairtrade fruit salad sale on Friday. Fairtrade Club were then invited by F.A.B to attend the ‘Think as you shop’ event on Saturday 2nd March at St Andrews Church where they created a giant Fairtrade sculpture using packaging collected from the local community. All in all, Fairtrade Week has been successful and the school has definitely gone further for Fairtrade in 2013!
